Power demand is outpacing what the electricity grid can reliably deliver. Data centers will consume up to 17% of all U.S. electricity by 2030, yet interconnection queues stretch five years or more. New manufacturing facilities are desperate for reliable, affordable electricity. Both data centers and industrial facilities are increasingly turning to onsite power, but the technologies available today – incumbent fuel cells, linear generators, reciprocating engines, gas turbines – come with high capital costs, high emissions, large footprints, and/or limited flexibility. Teragen has developed advanced solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems that incorporate materials innovations spun out of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, enabling unprecedented power density, cold start, and ramp rates. These translate directly to lower installed costs, smaller footprints, and load-following that better serve volatile AI workloads. For data centers and industrial sites, this unlocks dispatchable, behind- the-meter power with lower costs and lower emissions.
